Adjacent to the nature center, the recreation and
wellness center offers a wide range of outdoor programming through Polk County
Conservation such as:
- Bouldering Room
- Snowshoe & Cross-Country Ski Rentals (when there is at least 6” of snow on the ground)
- Indoor Archery & Air Rifle Range

Minimum Age| 5 Adult supervision is required for ages 12 & under on the climbing wall.

Indoor Archery & Air Rifle
INDOOR ARCHERY (Saturdays Only)
Learn how to shoot a bow and arrow. We provide
participants with the basics that will get them safely shooting and a general
feel for archery with a compound bow. We will cover eye dominance, archery
safety rules, equipment, and proper shooting techniques. Perfect for all skill
ranges, from no experience to those who have their own bow! All equipment is
provided. Outside bows and arrows are not allowed. *Minimum Age | 12 - Adult
supervision is required for those 16 years & under.
INDOOR AIR RIFLE (Sundays Only)
Target shooting is a lifelong sport and can be practiced
for most at an early age and continue through adulthood. Learn the basics of
air rifle target shooting from our certified staff. Come have a great time with
us learning how to shoot! All equipment is provided. Outside air rifles and/or
pellets are not allowed. *Minimum Age | 12 - Adult supervision is required for those
16 years & under.
HOURS
- Saturday (Archery) | 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- Sunday (Air Rifle) | Noon - 4 p.m.

Cross-Country Ski & Snowshoe Rentals
Cross-country ski and snowshoe rentals are available at
the Jester Park Outdoor Recreation & Wellness Center, adjacent from the
nature center. Snowshoes, cross-country skis, boots and poles are also
available to rent.
- Cross-country skis are sized mainly for adults.
- Snowshoes are sized for kids and adults, with a weight range of 40-250 pounds.
Skis and snowshoes will only be rented if there is at
least 6 inches of snow on the ground.
