The Jester Park Nature Center’s opening day was a huge success and we want to thank everyone for coming out and celebrating it with us! With our doors now open to the public, the building has been buzzing with all kinds of excited visitors and campers. Looking for the Jester Park Nature Center’s hours? Although we are open, construction activity around the outside of the nature center is still underway, so please be safe when you are visiting. Work is continuing on the streamscape and it is expected to be completed by September 2, just in time for Glow Wild! Landscape work around the nature center and Outdoor Recreation and Wellness Center will continue into the fall.



Love Jester Park? Become a Friend! Friends of Jester Park is a collaborative program of Polk County Conservation and the Great Outdoors Foundation. It offers our biggest park fans more opportunities for outdoor fun and nature adventures — including exclusive members-only experiences where you will have access to insider “secrets” and tips to make the most of your Jester Park outings. Your membership support provides supplemental funds needed for operations to keep Jester Park beautiful and enhance conservation and outdoor recreation programming. Learn more! 


Pingora Outdoors at Jester Park, located in the Outdoor Recreation and Wellness Center next to the nature center, is now renting outdoor equipment! Summer isn’t over until we say it is, so be sure to visit them to enhance your outdoor experience at Jester Park. Equipment rental rates and hours can be found here



Our first official Glow Wild at the Jester Park Nature Center is taking place on Sunday, September 2 from 4 – 10 p.m. Be sure to purchase your tickets before they increase in price the day of here. Glow Wild 2018 is full of more outdoor fun, exciting activities, and live music! There’s a little something for everyone this year - and we have a few things up our sleeves! All activities inside the event area are free! Please bring money for food, beverages, band merchandise, Glow Wild shirts, and other snacks. Bring blankets or lawn chairs also if you plan to stay and listen to Drake White & the Big Fire. Purchase your tickets here.



So What Can You Do at Glow Wild? 

  • Roast FREE s’mores with friends throughout the evening.
  • Try out your climbing skills on the light up rock wall 
  • Challenge friends to the obstacle course 
  • Get an airbrush tattoo 
  • Ride a horse-drawn wagon 
  • Pet ponies and learn more about horses 
  • See live birds of prey and interesting live insects 
  • Tag monarch butterflies 
  • Grab a paddle and go canoeing 
  • Play giant yard games with friends 
  • Watch the lighting of the enormous 30 ft. bonfire at 7:45 PM
  • Listen to Drake White and The Big Fire at 8 PM
