Little by Little, a Little Becomes a Lot!

Progress. Progress. Progress. Rainy weather has presented a few challenges, but the nature center construction has continued on! In the past few months it’s been difficult to actually see the progress the Jester Park Nature Center has made, but this month it is obvious! There is now an actual foundation in place and the nature center is slowly, but surely, taking shape.

Earlier in October, the lower level concrete floor was poured and steel was delivered for the installation of the structural frame that will make up the nature center. All focus this past month was on building the steel and lumber frame.

Masonry and the interior construction are being prepped for build out and Polk County Conservation staff are deciding on chairs and other interior design aspects that will be placed throughout the nature center.

Work to improve the Outdoor Recreation and Wellness Center’s exterior has officially begun! The bases for the columns supporting the canopy have been completed and the exterior has undergone major transformation from a maintenance building to a new public center for a wide variety of activities.
