Now that the parking lot concrete has been poured and the interior road completed, the footings and foundation for the Jester Park Nature Center is currently underway! The south wall of the basement is under construction with the underfloor plumbing being the next item on the to-do list.

Placement of the geothermal field – geothermal energy comes from the heat within the earth, which produces electricity to heat buildings – began in late July. The geothermal system will significantly reduce the cost of heating and cooling for the nature center. This is just one of the many eco-friendly aspects that have been incorporated into the design!

Other work scheduled for August includes the structural frame for the building and the elevator shaft. Work on the exterior of the new Outdoor Recreation and Wellness Center will also begin in August. Things are really beginning to come along and we are excited to continue sharing the construction progress with you!
