Snow Play

In 2013, you saw personal accounts from a variety of employees that work for Polk County Conservation: naturalists, maintenance technicians, rangers, office administrators, and others. We wanted to show you the diversity of tasks we do each day. One thing we all have in common? A passion for the outdoors.

We’re also passionate about getting others outdoors with us – you might have noticed! We know it’s January, but we want to encourage everyone in Polk County to get out there and enjoy the snow and the cold. You’ll miss it come August. You know you will.

Always wanted to try snowshoeing? Rent a pair from us by calling 515-323-5339 or come along for a naturalist-led snowshoe hike. Looking to dust off your cross-country skis from twenty years ago? Take a refresher course with us or try skiing for the first time! Get an early start on your New Year’s resolutions by trying something new - how about coming along to one of the ice fishing clinics we offer?

Winter in Iowa is so special. Share this beautiful time of year with one another…and with Polk County Conservation!
